Description
This photograph, which is in poor condition, is the earliest known photograph of the renovated Regiopolis College building.
It offers a frontal view of the "new" Hotel Dieu Hospital, Kingston, the renovated and altered Regiopolis College building, showing the new main entrance and portico. The construction took place between April and December 1892.
The photograph was taken from across Sydenham Street in the field opposite the hospital some time before the construction of the Monastary (1897) the Operating Theatre (1899) on the corner of Johnson and Sydenham Sts. On the balcony off the Women's Wards, the third floor, two people can be seen standing.
